Almost as ferocious as floppers

Hey sybilites,

First off props to Dukie on the new job. When he explained it to me i didnt even understand what he will be doing which probably means its very sweet!

And yes, as you can tell from the picture i now have a dog (Nathan come walk it anytime). Its no floppers but it is a pit bull mixed with we think border collie. We got her from the pound a few days ago and named her Bexley after the highway exit a few miles north of the pound (we suck). Anyway, the last owner trained her so she is pretty good about sitting and shaking and asking to go outside. She is however also a machine and today at ultimate bit and ripped through her leash and you could see our collective panic as she came running across the field....so we might have to figure that one out (suggestions?) Of course you are all welcome to come visit and see her (or me...either way really).

Also i want to hear whats new in all of the rest of your lives....post away

I dont dot the I!

Wow so I'm actually trying out this whole blogging thing just for you boys and to be honest its a bit less strange than i thought. I'm currently writing you from the land of the fuckeyes where the ridiculous institution was recently ranked number 19 on GQs douchiest universities for the "excessive school pride douche" (a category in which Michigan also received an honorable mention!). The article is here if you are curious http://men.style.com/gq/features/landing?id=content_10779 I would say that my favorite part is where they mention dressing for class like you are the offensive coordinator. So true. I think the biggest adjustment here is how many people wear their OSU gear in the brary and around campus ick. In other disgusting news, one of my classmates was Brutus here for the past 3 years and makes faces when i wear my maize shirts in class.
Anyway school if interesting and busy and im sure ill get used to the excessive OSU pride. On the good side of things my house on Michigan avenue with 2 other michigan alums is a safe haven from it all. However our one ohio housemate recently compared it to a taliban cell which looked normal from the outside, but inside had an apparently distressing amount of michigan love.
Things are def not the same as sybil though and i miss you all and hope you all are well. Although im still suffering from PTSD from the sybil fire and late last night i felt heat coming from our basement, I rushed downstairs to find the culprit....someone was using our dryer. Haha.
Also i'm planning on making some visits to the duece this year so we should all coordinate them. Weekends after exams i have pretty much nothing to do so im thinking the weekends of September 11th (also the Notre Dame game) October 2nd (My birthday weekend) and November 20th (the ohio state game) if anyone else is interested in coming back.
Alright peace out and sybil love you you all
James

yo yo yooooo

So, we need to be better about posting and checking up on this thing. The white street girls are doing far better at it and i will not let our blog become second rate. James, whats going on with your life buddy. Naynay, when do you start lawschool?

On a separate note, I know that I'm planning on hopping a train over to ann arbor for at least 1 or 2 football games this year. I think we should try and organize a weekend when we're all back. I believe the Penn State game is the "new alumni" weekend or something like that, so maybe that would be a fun time to go? I don't have too much preference for the game (though would like for it to be a big 10 game). Any thoughts? Any games you might want to attend? any weekend you know already is particularly bad? Lets try and get something together and get some tickets duders.

Life in chicago is going alright. Job is tiring me out. Hung out with bunch of michigan peeps last night which was fun. Come out and visit me! I'm bored on the weekends somewhat so come keep me entertained. Alright thats alll for now. Hope this message finds you all in the midst of an enjoyable summer. Talk to you fellas soon..

My life, post-inferno

It's been a while since I updated...

Just got back from an intensely bug-ridden stay at Tierra de Suenos - http://www.tierradesuenoslodge.com/ - in Costa Rica with Hannah. Did some pretty sweet zip-lining in the rain forest, attempted to surf on some pretty gnarly waves, got ripped off because my spanish is out of order, and had monkeys climb on me. I also found out that the only area of Costa Rica that has a malaria problem is the town of Puerto Viejo, a town 15 minutes away from our lodge that we visited every day. It was a blast. I'm sure you guys will see photos up on fb soon.

The all-elusive job-opportunity still eludes me... but on the bright side I've got an interview with a government office in DC this week. We'll see.

Fun tid-bit: my car was broken into a few weeks ago and they jacked my ipod. Some hoodlum in the district has an entire photo collection of sybil debauchery. Pretty sweet, huh?

Playing soccer, playing video games (rushing attack's just not the same, but Hannah bought guitar hero-- watch out Sluis), mowing lawns, painting houses, and searching for work seem to consume most of time this summer.

Good times are guaranteed if any of you gets the itching to hit up the capital.

That's all for now,

reese's peaces,
duke

Manville Men

In case you all were wondering why out hall in South Quad was named "Taylor" here's a fun fact for you on it's origin:

"Frederick Manville Taylor was a professor of economics and author of the textbook "Principles of Economics," the standard since 1911. He retired in 1929 after a Michigan career of 37 years."

Imagine if they had used his middle name. Instead of "Taylor Boys" we could have been "Manville Men."

Visitors

It would be helpful for all of the current Sybil denizens, if those of you visiting the lovely town of Ann Arbor and the famed Sybil house in the following weeks would post the exact dates that you will be here so that we can plan your welcome and figure out sleeping arrangements/fun things to do!

Moving on Out

Yo Yo Sybilites!
So It's pretty official that I'm taking this Job in Chicago. This means two things. First, I will be coming to Ann Arbor sometime on July 9th or 10th probably to get my stuff (don't worry Bill I'll call you to discuss the logistics of this sometime in the near future). So if any of you are going to be there, I shall be seeing you hopefully. Secondly, I will be in Chicago by the 12th. So if anyone wants to come out, especially because I won't have a roomate before august 1st, you should. I'm definitely psyched to be there for Lollapalooza in the beginning of august, so if anyone is interested in coming and joining me, you have a place to stay and someone to go with! Thats all for now. Catch you boys later.

Job!

So I got offered a job in Chicago, the same one I've been interviewing at recently. I have to decide by friday if I am going to take it. As of now, I'd say there's probably about a 75% chance I take the job. If that happens, I will be leaving nyc at the latest the end of june and more likely sometime in mid june. So if your planning on visiting the city, come soon! If not, and your in Michigan, then it should be significantly easier for you to visit me. I'll let you all know when i make my decision. Its awesome out in NYC, hopefully you're all having good weather. Catcha later.

Craigslist and Flops

So, the loyal subscribers of Sybilicious may be interested to know that there is, apparently, tremendous demand for lop-eared rabbits on craigslist. After posting a single ad--in which, I admit, I hyped him up a great deal and included several adorable photos--I received no less than 12-15 emails, the majority of which appearing to be serious inquiries. I guess there are a lot fewer scam artists out there when you're trying to unload a rabbit for free.
Anyway, even though it will be very sad for me to let him go, I am pleased to say that he's been placed with a family in semi-rural Virginia. The stay-at-home mother of the family contacted me, and after speaking with her on the phone, it's clear that she knows more about rabbits than I do, as she's owned them before. So that's great. If all goes well, she's going to drive up to D.C. later today. Flops would like to extend his sincere gratitude to all those residents of 806 Sybil that were affectionate to him during his stay, and also to Bill.

Site Update

As of now all of you are admins. This means you can edit the site layout, settings, add gadgets/lists/polls/etc. You're welcome.

Goosey, you can add to the summer reading list by going to your profile, clicking on edit blog layout, edit gadget "summer reading list."

And Nathan is officially my least favorite housemate.

Suckers!

I just physically touched Charles Woodson and talked to him for 5 minutes about Michigan Love and law school. That's part of the perks of being a big time medical development employee. You know you're all jealous (and if you're not you should be ashamed to call yourself a Michigan fan).

P.S. He has wicked facial hair.

Bravo!

Well done, billy b!

I propose starting an email chain with the entire clan to collect high quality graduation pics - facebook won't cut it for printing out images.  I'll send one out in the next week with some from my collection.

Peace 'n love

Second!

I, for one, think this is a fine idea.  I just wish this showed off my sweet-ass profile pic.  Also, props to bill for his sign-off exclamations!  Snails!

Welcome!

Welome, fellow Sybilites:

To be completely open, I stole this idea from the White Street Girls and thought it would be fun for us--plus I'm bored at work. I figure this is a great way to keep in touch with everyone as we go our separate ways--obligatory moment of silence. This may not work at all, but it's free so I figured I'd try it out. Feel free to join/edit/post do whatever. It's our own playground--in a nonpedophilic sense.
